SEIKO PMC is developing and providing chemical systems that contribute to the improved quality and productivity in the paper industry by leveraging its skill and expertise in the area of paper chemistry.
SEIKO PMC signed an exclusive sales agreement with the Novozymes Biologicals Japan, which is the Japanese subsidiary of Novozymes Biologicals, a world leader in microbial preparations, and is promoting Bioaugmentation*, a method of treating wastewater using microbial preparations. This is one of the Company's new business operations that address the social need to be "environment conscious", which is a pressing issue.
*Bioaugmentation The method involving the addition of highly efficient microbes to activated sludge and soil.SEIKO PMC will contribute to the increasing use of recycled paper by converting the pH level during the paperboard-making process from acidic to alkaline. This conversion also improves the environmental problems by decreasing wastewater usage and improving productivity at the same time.
The Company is responding to the need for increased whiteness and opacity of newsprint paper, as well as for compatibility with color and high-speed printing.
The Company will contribute to improving the performance of such differentiation products as bulky printing paper for books and high quality tissue/toilet paper.
As a part of the corporate strategy of "regional expansion of business", SEIKO PMC is expanding into China, a market that is larger than Japan in terms of paper and paperboard production and where the demand for paper making chemicals is expected to grow for the foreseeable future. This growth will be in both volume and quality of the paper. Following the establishment of its Shanghai Representative Office in September 2003, the Company established a local production company of paper making chemicals, SEIKO PMC (ZHANGJIAGANG) CORPORATION, in Zhangjiagang, Jaingsu, in April 2005 and started production in May 2006. Furthermore, SEIKO PMC (Shanghai) Commerce & Trading Corporation was established in Shanghai in March 2006 as the Company's Chinese sales office.
